The price of our vitality

The price of our vitality is the sum of all our fears.
— David Whyte

Fear. She's such a bugger of an emotion.

Fear, while being a natural and widely felt emotion, is not our nature. It’s a feeling meant for certain moments, to save us from real danger.

In these current times, fear has become almost like an underlying constant...rather than an occasional variable.

For anyone who feels fear and anxiety daily, who is scared of the unknown, I see you. I know it’s not something you can turn off like a tap.

To move out of fear, there needs to be small supportive actions taken daily.

Meditation, movement, nutritious food, time in nature, and letting go of negativity and anything toxic in your life. Start small on each, don’t turn up the dial in one go. Each action must be taken with complete self-compassion - when self-compassion isn’t present, drop the activity.

Don’t meditate because someone else said you should. Don’t move your body because you want to look like someone else. Do all of these things with an intention of love, growth, and evolution.

Do them because you believe they will help heal your heart.

Do them because you want to change how you experience life on a daily basis.

When we start to act from a place of true love for ourselves, feelings of fear, worry and anxiety naturally fall away. It doesn’t mean they are never there ever again, but when they stop by to visit, you quickly remember your true essence. You’ll stop them at your ‘front door’ - thanks, but no thanks. There’s no need to let them in and entertain and feed them for hours, or days for that matter.

Self-compassion and love are the true antidotes to fear.

Where self-compassion and love is present, fear cannot exist.
